Accountancy Assistant

Salary: £20k to £30k

Job Role

Due to continued success an opportunity has arisen to strengthen the Accountancy team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing Statutory Accounts from core accounting records. These can be manual records, spreadsheets or data imported from accounting software.
  • Balancing control accounts and preparing accounts files using the Mercia framework and using checklists, for example Company Accounts Checklists.
  • Preparing accounts from clients accounting software packages including IRIS, SAGE, XERO, Quickbooks, this involves data interrogation.
  • Preparing tax computations for sole traders and partnerships, Corporation Tax returns for Ltd Companies.
  • Correspondence with clients and managers to complete assignments. This can involve, meetings, agenda, reports, analysis, letters, bills etc.
  • Completion of bookkeeping work on behalf of clients.
  • Preparing VAT returns and filing with HMRC.
  • Producing management accounts for review by managers and directors. This can involve data analysis and narrative.

Skills and Qualities

To be considered for this position, the ideal candidate should have strong numeracy skills, excellent organisations skills and be a confident communicator.

We will consider applicants who have already completed AAT L4 or who consider themselves to be qualified by experience having realised practical experience in an accountancy practice setting.

Audit Manager

As an experienced Audit Manager, you will be driven to develop personally and professionally. We are seeking a confident individual who will work closely with our clients.

Our aim is to appoint an ambitious qualified ACA/ACCA accountant who is seeking a progressive role within a rapidly growing dynamic business.

Applicants should have strong audit skills, along with more rounded, commercial accounting skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

You will manage a portfolio of clients with specific responsibility for:

  • Management of a diverse portfolio of clients from growing owner managed businesses through to large groups of companies
  • Leading Audit engagements on-site including responsibility for planning, budgeting, completion and the management of a team
  • Preparation of statutory and management accounts and servicing the client’s needs
  • Oversee planning and finalisation client meetings
  • Delegating and supervising work of team members
  • Reviewing work of other staff members
  • Supervise, coach and develop members of staff within teams, on client premises and in the office

Skills and Qualities

To be considered for this position, individuals must be qualified ACCA / ACA and currently working within a firm of accountants at Manager level within an audit/accounting environment.

Tax Assistant/Senior

An exciting opportunity exists to join our tax department to provide support to a diverse client portfolio of clients, including High Net Worth Individuals, Entrepreneurial Business Owners, Partnerships, Trusts and Directors.

The role

  • Providing personal tax compliance services for a varied portfolio of clients processing of tax returns, ensuring returns are processed accurately and delivered to agreed service standards
  • Management of client information, ensure businesses submit all appropriate information for the completion of tax returns
  • Ensure that the client’s tax liability is correctly calculated and the client is advised accordingly
  • Communicate directly with clients and HMRC regarding tax compliance matters on the phone and in person
  • Ensuring compliance with current legislation and preparing working papers

Skills and Qualities

Applicants should have a good understanding of tax compliance and have developed at least 2 years experience working within an accountancy or tax environment

Ideally applicants will be qualified ATT or studying towards the ATT qualification, however individuals who have decided not to take the formal qualification route (but have at least 2 years personal tax experience) are also encouraged to apply.
